Kherson Children’s Hospital Upgrades

Kherson Children's Hospital Upgrades by UCAF Donors

For decades, the surgical department at Kherson Regional Children’s Hospital operated under challenging conditions.
Since 1980, the hospital’s windows had been falling apart. They allowed in extreme temperatures, could barely open, and posed risks to both patients and staff. Today, thanks to donor support, those outdated windows have been replaced with modern, soundproof alternatives that maintain a stable room temperature year-round and open safely and easily.

Beyond comfort, critical upgrades were made to the hospital’s infrastructure and surgical capabilities. Many hospital departments were in urgent need of renovation. Doctors were performing procedures in environments that lacked sanitation and safety. With funding from UCAF, multiple rooms were completely remodeled. New linoleum, tiles, and fresh paint transformed these spaces into clean and functional areas suitable for pediatric surgeries.

Another milestone was the introduction of laparoscopic surgical equipment— the first of its kind for this hospital. Laparoscopy allows doctors to perform precise, minimally invasive procedures that reduce trauma and recovery time, especially for children. Alongside the main system, UCAF also provided the specialized tools needed to operate it. These advancements significantly elevate the standard of care available to children in the Kherson region.

Support extended to the hospital’s youngest patients as well. Two neonatal medical hoods were purchased to assist newborns with respiratory challenges. These devices have become vital in stabilizing and treating infants during critical early moments of life.

Through infrastructure, technology, and targeted medical tools, donors like you are helping elevate the future of pediatric healthcare in Ukraine. The children of Kherson now receive safer, higher-quality care in an environment where their needs are met with dignity and modern resources.
