Trauma Support for Amir
In August 2020, a young boy was born in Kiev, beginning life in a loving family. At just 1.5 years old, his world changed dramatically as the war in Ukraine erupted. Forced to seek shelter from relentless bombing, his family spent weeks in the basement of their building before eventually fleeing to Western Ukraine by train. Tragically, the trauma of near-constant threats, including a missile strike on their train, deeply impacted the boy.
The immense stress caused him to stop speaking, and he began displaying signs of autism. His mother, recognizing his challenges, started him on a path of therapy and treatment in October 2022. This journey, while difficult, has already shown positive progress, bringing hope to their family.
Meanwhile, the boy’s father, a dedicated military doctor, has been serving on the front lines in eastern Ukraine for over a year, while his mother provides all the support she can at home. With sustained therapy, there is hope that he may reach a level of development that enables him to start school alongside his peers.
The family, however, faces significant financial strain and seeks assistance to continue this life-changing treatment. They remain dedicated to providing their son with every opportunity to heal and grow, but support is needed to make this transformation possible.
