Firewood in Kherson Amidst Harsh Winter
The winter season is very cold and most people in villages have no gas, so the need to heat their houses is crucial. Especially when you have children in the house. Heating has always been a challenge for families even in peaceful times and planning ahead starting in summer was the best strategy for many years. In places like Kherson Region, where there is not much forest or wood available people always struggled to heat their houses. Delivering briquettes from Western Ukraine, where they are produced is much more efficient than trying to bring the wood from there. Now, with the ongoing war, people have no savings whatsoever and try to survive getting food. And they look forward to the upcoming winter with fear. Very strong cold winds, the temperature gets below -4 F, all type of illnesses that you can get being in a very cold house – all this brings people anxiety nowadays. And it is becoming pretty cold starting in November and all the way through March. When we buy this truck-load of briquettes, we would be able to provide heating to 80 families with children this winter. These briquettes would be brought to the families several packs at a time. Some church people have cars that could be used to deliver it to them. We will provide all the necessary receipts and reports, and be able to keep more than 300 children warm this winter with your help.
